New Pattern: Emmett

Check it out, guys–I made a sweater pattern. It’s a baby/child’s cardigan called Emmett.

It uses my new favorite yarn, Spud & Chloe Sweater, but you can substitute any worsted weight yarn you like. I definitely recommend something with wool content if possible! I originally swatched for this project (over two years ago!) with Cascade 220.

The size range is 0-3 months up to 10 years. The sweater is meant to be fairly close-fitting (about one inch positive ease*), so if you live in a colder climate and it’s likely to be worn over many layers, perhaps make one size up. Grace and Sam wear theirs over t-shirts (long or short sleeves) and it’s the perfect outer layer here in Los Angeles.

*that’s one inch compared to the average size charts, so Sam’s sweater fits with about 2.5 inches ease even though he’s already outgrowing it length-wise. These kids and their non-standard bodies!

Although it is not technically required, I have given express permission for hand-knitted items made from my pattern to be sold. I want to see Emmetts all over Etsy, okay?

Want to knit one (or six)?

Dear god, you’re kids are cute.

And the sweater is lovely, too.

So, at this point, does Sam have a portfolio?

Thanks for the kind comment. And, um, I am in LOVE with this little cardigan. I’ve put it in my queue for future knitting. Nice work!

Yeah, I agree with the consensus that your kids are ridiculously cute.

    And that cardigan… love it!

Oh, that reminds me… are you still making bandanna pants? My sister’s oldest rugrat still loves hers (which I bought from your Etsy shop in 12/09), but apparently, she loved them to death… the crotch ripped! ha! I’d love to special order another pair if you’re still doing them. Let me know. :)
