Check it out, guys–I made a sweater pattern. It’s a baby/child’s cardigan called Emmett.
It uses my new favorite yarn, Spud & Chloe Sweater, but you can substitute any worsted weight yarn you like. I definitely recommend something with wool content if possible! I originally swatched for this project (over two years ago!) with Cascade 220.
The size range is 0-3 months up to 10 years. The sweater is meant to be fairly close-fitting (about one inch positive ease*), so if you live in a colder climate and it’s likely to be worn over many layers, perhaps make one size up. Grace and Sam wear theirs over t-shirts (long or short sleeves) and it’s the perfect outer layer here in Los Angeles.
*that’s one inch compared to the average size charts, so Sam’s sweater fits with about 2.5 inches ease even though he’s already outgrowing it length-wise. These kids and their non-standard bodies!
Although it is not technically required, I have given express permission for hand-knitted items made from my pattern to be sold. I want to see Emmetts all over Etsy, okay?
