I’m LOVING your Prudent Pantry posts! So awesome. Please keep updating.

    Fun semi-prudent stuff we’ve done:
    – make sausages from scratch (you can go with just sausage patties if you don’t want to be bothered with casing, and a hand-grinder is about $20).
    – Home-can tomato sauce (seasonal bushels of plum tomatoes are pretty cheap)
    – Roast big batches of red peppers (we buy a bushel of Shepard peppers when they’re cheap/ in season) and keep them stored in baggies in the freezer
    – Make my own pesto from leftover herbs (not just basil!) and freeze it in ice cube containers
    – Buy the really cheap sale meat or fish and keep it in the freezer until we figure out what we want to do with it (ingredients go on the list for NEXT week)
    – Grow our own herbs in the summer (I’m very bad with keeping plants alive inside the house).
    – We always used to keep leftover old bananas in the freezer for making muffins, but they kinda started accumulating. So now we make an effort to have the over-ripe ones on cereal or in pancakes. They’re also quite good wrapped in a burrito shell with Nutella or peanut butter.

Maybe those will inspire a post someday… Keep up the most excellent work!
