I expect Sam to have freckles, for a number of reasons.

  1. He is a redhead.
  2. I have freckles.
  3. Will has freckles.
  4. My mom, whose coloring Sam inherited, has freckles.

I have been patiently waiting for this summer, which is approximately when I estimate freckles might start to show up. (When I say “patiently” you need to know that I mean “asking everyone I know if freckles ever show up before three years.”)

Yesterday I found three freckles. One on each forearm and one on his knee. He also has a spot on his nose but I am not counting it yet because it might be dirt. (Yes, it is still there today, and yes, that could mean it is not dirt, since he had a bath last night and all, but I am not counting on it. Let us not forget that he is a three-year-old boy.)

Freckles! I may be disproportionately excited about this.

I love freckles! Violet just turned two and she now has one single freckle on her behind. Hahaha. It just showed up one day and I thought it was a speck of dirt.

I read an anonymous post on a certain “mommy” site the other day in which the mother confided that if her baby’s hair turns out to be red she would DYE IT! (I guess he is so young now he doesn’t really have hair yet, BUT she’s already plotting to deface his natural beauty.)

What an idiot! Red hair is more lovely because it is rare, and lovely on its own besides. I couldn’t believe she’d actually consider doing that. What a way to teach her child that she loves him unconditionaly.

You know you can’t leave Frecklewatch at this one entry. YOU HAVE TO KEEP US APPRISED. WE ARE INVESTED NOW!

Congrats on your three freckles, Sam! Here are many more! When I was little, I seriously had freckle envy. My sister had them all. And everything she had that I didn’t was COOL. She-ra dolls and freckles, sigh.

My Mom and a few cousins are the only freckled people in our family. My Mom loves her freckles. When she was a tween she said they camoflaged her zits. Later, she said they camo’d her wrinkles. Now, at 86…not so much. They just look like more age spots.

Per Mom….moisturize ALOT if you’re a freckled person!!!

I am freckled from head-to-toe and have been dying to have one of my children join me. This, her sixth summer, is the magic year! I actually called her “freckle face” today. Thankfully, her brothers didn’t hear me or they would never stop saying it!
