I spilled some water in the basket under the jogging stroller when I didn’t properly close the cap on my water bottle. This morning the camera fell in the water and I didn’t notice. For two hours. It was only submerged about 1/3 of the way, for whatever that’s worth (there isn’t a lot of water, but the camera of course fell into the small corner of the basket that is still wet). It doesn’t turn on, which is no great surprise. I removed the memory card and the battery (which are dry), wrapped the camera in a towel, and called my dad (the photographer) to ask if there’s anything else I can do. He said to let it dry for at least 24 hours, and then see.

I am not so good at waiting. It’s not like we can replace it if it’s broken. UGH.

My friend dropped her iPhone in water and they told her to put it in a bowl of dry white rice for a day. Don’t ask me why, but it worked.

let it dry as LONG AS POSSIBLE. it’s better if you don’t try to turn it on until it is absolutely completely dry. i would leave it for three days if you can stand it.

Electricals are usually fine so long as they aren’t on when they get wet. Give it a couple of days and it should be fine, although if it doesnt work after a week, it probably never will.

I dropped a whole bottle of wine on my cell and it worked after 3 days of drying. Sadly it was on at the time and I blew the speaker, but the camera part still works *thumbs up*

There might be a problem with condensation in the lens but you can usually get rid of that if you wrap it with those silica gel packets you get in the pockets of new bags or shoe boxes.

Good luck! I always need a camera when I dont have one.
