Spring has sprung here in Southern California!
When my Mother-in-Law visited last month, she remarked on all the flowers and then said something about how we don’t have spring here, since it’s green all year. I was quick to correct her, explaining that while we do have green year-round, the flowers that pop up in the end of March had all JUST shown up, and were mostly annuals planted by gardeners and precipitating our real spring. I told her about the greens that were appearing out in the high desert, which is brown all winter, and we took her out to Vasquez Rocks to see for herself.
Well, as you may have guessed by now we are obsessed with Vasquez, and visit pretty much every week. I can hardly believe it’s only been two months and some days since our first visit! On Saturday we went for a lovely hike, and I saw these fine ladies:
Spring really and truly has sprung.
Sunday morning Sam got his Easter treats and I went to the farmer’s market. The weather was amazing, warm sun and a cool breeze and this intangible feeling of SPRING. I bought flowers for Will and wore a dress.
At the last imaginable moment I finished a little vest I’ve been knitting up for Sam. It’s my own pattern, which I am thinking of offering as a download, maybe for free and maybe for a few dollars. I’m not sure yet.
We spent the afternoon at Cassie’s with Katherine and Tommy and it was just perfect.
