My sister is re-joining the SCA and I’ve been helping her try out possible names for her persona. (I think she should go with Olivia, but I am OK with the one she’s almost settled on, which is not Olivia because she does not recognize my naming genius.)
All the talk about names has me obsessing over possible future baby names (Amy: I am not pregnant). The list of girl names I love is a mile long, and the only real trouble would be narrowing it down, but there are very few boy names I love. I mean, it took us two days to name Sam. I have a couple of favorites, but that list just shrunk by about a third when one of the names went to my newest nephew.
Last night in the car, driving to knitting, I came up with the perfect name, first and middle. Of course I would not name someone before meeting (or, er, conceiving) him, nor would I decide without consulting Will, but it was so lovely. Oh, I thought, I wonder what his initials would be.
A.C.K.
Er, back to the drawing board. (Naming genius, indeed. I am such a dork.)

Eheheheheheehehehehehh. A.C.K. ACK!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA
Of course, I wouldn’t make fun of him once he was in existence. Just right now.
My names for hypothetical babies used to be almost all girl. But somehow, my list of girl names shrank, while my list of boy names expanded. Now I have more hypothetical boys than hypothetical girls and that doesn’t even make any sense to me.
Though for what it’s worth, I think ACK! would be a very cool acronym.
I agree. ACK is a good ACKronym.
I like it.

A is for Anakin?

Also, if I were crazy enough to commit to full involvement in the SCA (as opposed to the peripheral involvement/membership in vaguely-SCA-related theatre troupe I have going on now), I would totally come to you for a persona name.

Maybe Anakin, maybe not…
My dad’s initials are P.M.S., but his full name is great. Initials, schminitials.

Yay, a name post!
I like ACK. I think that’s awesome. Could it be switched to CAK? And maybe you could come up with an extra last name for the whole family (what fun!) that starts with E.
I have considered Anakin myself. I don’t think it will happen, but I have definitely thought about it.
I like the name Olivia a lot too.

My dad’s initials were G.A.S. :)
Boy names are hard. When those around me first started having babies, it seemed the only names available were Sam or Max, which remain my two favorite boy names.
My mom has the BEST initials: C.A.S.H
I have a list of names, but no solid first/middle combos (and frankly no emminent need for them) but it’s always a fun exercise!
My mother’s initials until she married was S.A.D.
She wasn’t.

Don’t get me started on names.
I’m still trying to figure out the C in your ACK. I’m pretty sure it’s not C3PO but it could be Calrissian I suppose.
Meanwhile I do need a name for the little one on the inside currently and used my favorite girl name. Other favorite girl names were stolen in recent years by friends and family. Still other favorite girl names are all Girls Who Have Wronged my husband in some way in the past. Or when I look up their meaning I’m totally flabbergasted as to why someone would name their child something that meant something so negative.
We got the boy one, though, with a back up in case this baby is a boy and yet when we look at him, he’s so not the name we like.

OH MY GOD. If my initials were ACK that is how I would sign everything. That IS naming genius as far as I’m concerned.

My comment was going to be almost exactly what Amy wrote. Just so you know!
