Accidental invention

Look, typos happen. And sometimes when we’re typing quickly, words get substituted even when we know better. Homophone, homonym, homograph. But none of that stops me from laughing at other people’s dumbass mistakes. Tonight’s winner: heresay. The most brilliant accidentally invented word ever. The writer (no, I will not link) meant to say hearsay, but wound up with something a bit closer to heresy.

Anyone care to suggest a definition for heresay?

“Heresay” must mean a local saying. Or a local rumour, perhaps? One that challenges or pokes holes in the authority of respected local figures.

I make typos all the time. I attribute them to mentalpause.

Heresay are heretical things you say in your own home as opposed to theoretical things you say in their home.
