You’d think I would have seen more of them, considering the fact that I wrote a dystopic movie. Oh well.

I did not bold Planet Of The Apes, but I’m pretty sure I saw all of them once when I was on a bender. Also, I take serious umbrage at the inclusion of Pleasantville, which is not a dystopic movie at all. Furthermore, I have seen one Mad Max movie but I don’t remember which one. I think it was maybe Thunderdome, which somehow failed to make this list. Most mysterious. And lastly, I corrected the title of entry #32.

I had to repost this one. But where’s Westworld?? It’s certainly in the dystopic hall of fame.

I think someone needs to make Brave New World into a film. Maybe I’ll do it. Someday.

I would argue that Pleasantville is at least *set* in a dystopic world- but I would agree that the story arc isn’t dystopic. Just sayin’…

I must tell you that I saw THX 1138, Sleepers, Planet of the Apes, Fahrenheit 451, and Clockwork Orange when they first came out, in the theaters when that was the ONLY way possible to see them (no VHS or DVDs then!). Somehow I’d missed Soylent Green, tho. However, I just bought THX 1138 on DVD, cuz I’ve been feeling a bit nostalgic.

I saw A Clockwork Orange at a midnight showing at the Angelika. Almost as good as seeing any of them first-run! Of course, now I cannot imagine staying up that late for any reason…
