Old Navy, WTF?

Look at this, Internet.

pitching a tent

Do you see this? DO YOU SEE THE INDIGNITY? Old Navy is passing this tent off as a blouse. And the fabric is so cute that I almost fell for it! I swear, it was like 1960 in that dressing room. 1960 AT THE KAMPGROUND OF AMERICA.

How is it possible that this is the same store that carries this gorgeous item?

Annika, Super Spy

Look at Audrey Hepburn there. Sadly, I don’t have $40 for a coat. WEEP FOR ME, PEOPLE, because that baby fit perfectly. (Medium, Internet. I wear a medium.)

Old Navy is totally hit and miss. This summer I lived in several of their seasonal dresses and skirts, all of which were perfectly cut and just the right length, but then I bought a top with a wonky neckline and seams that don’t lay flat. Bah.

The trenchcoat is DIVINE. It kind of needs to be yours.

If I looked as good in that coat as you I’d just buy fewer groceries that week. While wearing my new coat, of course!

That look on your face in the first photo is PRICELESS!

You look great, by the way. Ignoring the tent and all. YOU look fabulous :)

    I like the coat too.

The coat is gorgeous and definitely a perfect fit. But the look on your face in the first one is, as Kjrstn said, priceless.

Yeah, that shirt is a crime. What was Old Navy thinking??

Didn’t Old Navy have ads a few years back with a talking dog? Talking dogs are never to be trusted.

Even without you typing anything *ANYTHING* at all, your face in that first photo says it all.

And to think I’ve not ever considered bringing my digital camera with me while clothes shopping. Hmmm.

I think whoever the head of Old Navy is was pregnant when she picked out this summer’s line. I mean, I’ve gotten two cute short dresses (one that I’m too modest to wear as anything other than a shirt) and a bunch of racerback tops there, but every other thing I tried on made me look pregnant. I don’t know why they’re so big on the almost empire but above the boobs waist and the ballooning, but the head honcho being preggers is my best guess.

I do love that coat, though.

You can console yourself by saying that the trenchcoat needs a belt. (And seriously, what is up with this year’s trends? Bubble skirts look good on no one.)

this post is too freaking funny Annika! Between your expression and the complete polar opposites of the clothing AND the fact that you brought a camera into the changeroom (I’m so going to do that!)~ it’s a very noteworthy post.

That first photo is priceless! That coat is made for you. Gorgeous! OK but what the Hell is going on in fashion this season? With the fitted classic look and wide leg pants (hooray!) and lots of black, tan and brown. Very New York. Love it. And then the tent top? Baffling.

    Loving the coat.

Fashion is so weird. It’s amazing how many tops are so maternity-ish these days…..and frustrating, because they weren’t like that at all last year when I was actually pregnant. Hhmph!

Not that I can afford to shop anywhere but the Salvation Army and Wally World.

I know! WHERE WERE THESE CLOTHES WHEN I WAS ENORMOUSLY PREGNANT? I actually tried on another top that I loved despite it having a wee bit too much fabric (OK, it was also a tent) and I considered buying it for next time I am pregnant. Seriously.

There is a theory that looking pregnant is a new fashion fetish – not actually being pregnant, mind you, that’s still gross, but looking like you might be pregnant. What’s disturbing to me is that I’m seeing it mostly in juniors departments and places like Old Navy, American Eagle Outfitters – places where children shop.

The first picture is hilarious, you look like the top actually hurts to have it on. Regardless, you are lookin’ mighty fine! Love the slicked back hair.

I absolutely hate those baby doll shirts. Unless you are six feet tall with a 25 inch waist it looks like maternity–and not a ‘cute little mom’ maternity either.

I do like the coat though :-)
