My first time

Not everyone’s mother documents their first time. I am lucky.

As I am still reeling from NPR’s ridiculous assertation (which may not be a word) that China’s one child law is directly responsible for the rash of internet gaming addicts (no discussion! No evidence! Just a leap!), today I’ll be sharing those pictures.

These were taken on September 15, 1994. I was 16 years old.

Here is a before shot:

I’d shaved my head with #2 clippers two months earlier.

Phase one:

No, I don’t have any idea what I’m wearing. Clearly something I don’t mind spilling bleach on.

Phase one, complete:

And styled:

It is a safe assumption that this picture was taken while I was bouncing around the house singing, “Cause I’m a blonde, yeah yeah yeah!”

Phase two:

That one is scary. Moving along…

The finished look:

And that, friends, is the first time I dyed my hair with Manic Panic. (What were you expecting?)

I was expecting about that time in Reno? When you shot a man just to watch him die? But no, I get the hair story. Sigh.

Fantastic! Somewhere my mother has photos of me from my first time (henna though, not MP).

Just to clarify, I had dyed my hair before this. But it was my Manic Panic cherry. Or Fire, actually. (Get it? They’re both shades of red! Feh.)

See, and girls sometimes wonder if anyone will be able to tell after their first time. But they should know that the answer is always going to be yes if it was done correctly. I mean, there is some serious dye in that stuff!

I suddenly want to chop off my hair and dye it bright colors too…. I’d have enough for locks of love that way!

You look adorable with short hair, very ‘french’ looking. I WISH I had the balls to do that. But alas, I am always burdened with the realization that, yes, I do need longer hair to balance out the massive size of my ass. Someday, maybe if I succeed in the ass-reduction area…

That is awesome. I was so hoping when I moved to Humboldt I’d get to dye my hair blue. Alas, then I got a job as an Executive Assistant and blue didn’t fit the profile. :P

You know, I’ve been contemplating that exact color for a few months now. This might be an inspiration to actually do it. And yay for Manic Panic. My cherry was hot pink, if you get my drift.

Dude I LOVED Manic Panic – and to think I met you a few short months after these photos!

“‘Cos I’m a blonde, yeah, yeah, yeah!” Hee! I love that film. So daft.

I think my favourite shot is number 2, even though I know it’s not finished. Pixie!

In ’94, I was 14 and worshiping cool kids like you with punky hair. My mom was mean and wouldn’t let me. I also remember ’94 being the year that I met the first person I ever knew with a tongue piercing. I just thought he was the cat’s pajamas. Turns out he was just a jerk that looked hip.
