NaBloPoMo

nablopomo_yoda_120x240.jpgI am currently in the middle of not participating in Blogtober. Two years ago I hosted (and failed at) something I called NaBloWriMo.

Mrs. Kennedy of Fussy.org (home of the greatest t-shirts ever except maybe these) (I wear a ladies size large) has stolen my idea — or, you know, had a similar idea — and is hosting National Blog Posting Month. With prizes! I didn’t have prizes (though nothing beats winning a Noirbettie Award).

I am going to participate. As such, I am taking suggestions for blog topics. Help me out! This is just the opportunity I needed to get the blog back on track (surely you’ve noticed how dull it is lately) and I want to take full advantage.

Leave your suggestion in the comments. If I use your idea I will send you one of the books, CDs, or movies that we are purging. (It isn’t as bad as it sounds – we’re getting rid of a lot of great stuff. Honest.) Be sure to include a valid email address, please!

Books that should have movies made based on them.
Books that should NOT EVER have movies based on them.
The complex relationship that books and movies have with each other.

There. That should provide enough fodder for at least a week’s worth. :)

Babies, Mexican food, coffee, Mexican coffee, Mexican babies, cute boys (may include babies and Mexicans)and zombies.

Don’t forget the cute baby zombies in Mexico!

Where to get good yarn, good food, good wine. Recipes. Meal planning secrets. Presents. Baby clothes. Necklaces.

Those are pretty cute t-shirts. I totally love the revenge shirt.

As far as topics? Hmmmmmm, let’s see. Battlestar Gallactica, Mommy stuff, recipes, fun places to see in your town, s&b, and anything Sam (of course). I don’t know, I’m not terribly successful in the topic department myself lately. I find that I’m so consumed by poopy diapers, breast pumps, and toddler temper tantrums that I’m not too funny, or witty, or creative these days. I hope this mommy brain thing gets better. There’s a topic– The new mommy brain.

Caaaandy… what to do on really windy days… show drawings of some jewerly you designed if you could make any jewerly… list of things you really really really want for Christmas… what the world would be like without something, like cheese or dogs or slurpies… lists of things, like what you want to do before you are 50, or people to avoid at all costs… a ‘how to be like bettie’ weekly blog, where you tell us how to do something the way you do it.. And I’m really thirsty so this is it right now for my topics. Hope I was helpful.

I think you’re probably already covered, but in case not, here are some more ideas…

The Obvious:
Zombies.
Monkeys.
Zombie monkeys!!!
Unschooling.

The Gimmicky:
Everyday for 18 days, you could review a season of The Simpsons. Add on a season of South Park, and you get up to 28 days, which almost covers the entire month!
Or, you could review the past 30 years, starting with the year you were born… and um, projecting what the next two will look like.
Or, you could blog about:
froggy, domestic goddess, psychodrama, writer, knittery, blogging, quote of the day, big bad baby belly, hollywoodland, nostalgia, mawwiage, the internets, true story, work at home monster, meme, cheese sandwich, Sam, lists, images, spam eggs bacon and spam, adventure!, I love rock ‘n roll, whine and I’ve been hypnotised.
Or you could link to a different youtube video each day.
Or you could review other people’s blogs.
Or you could blog recipes.
Or you could post stories.

Man. Why is it that I can come up with a gabillion ideas for *YOU* to blog about, but nada for myself? Ahh, the mysteries of the universe.

[...] Well I am going to attempt to participate in NaBloPoMo. I first hear about it over at Annika’s where there are several links. One being to Fussy’s blog. [...] Gwen gave me a present last night — No One Cares What You Had For Lunch. Of course, this ruins my plan for NaBloPoMo (write about what I have for lunch every day). No, really, I love it! So thoughtful. [...]

[...] Every entry will have a title from Tom Waits’ catalog (today’s is from The Black Rider). I will post the usual as well as your ideas. There will be pictures regularly. I will post recipes. There will be more about knitting, more about writing, and probably more about Sam (if that is actually possible). [...]

[...] NaBloPoMo has ended and I was successful (and have many more topics to cover in the coming weeks). Writing every day is not difficult for me, though I do think my last few posts would have been significantly less boring if my camera hadn’t broken. I posted 38 times (39 counting this post) and each post title was the title of a Tom Waits song. I believe I covered every album except for the one released during November, which we do not yet own. I would love to give away a copy of the playlist of songs from NaNovember — any suggestions for a contest or drawing I might do? [...]
