I have found my people!

I tried Wardrobe Remix but I never felt fabulous enough. I did fine with NaBloShoeMo, because Susan thought it was cute that I wore the same shoes for 30 days. I didn’t even try The Working Closet because I am a slob. And lo! Secret Agent Josephine felt just as I do, and created the I dress like a slob every day flickr group for slobs like me. Hooray!

These are the things I think about.

My least favorite but most oft-quoted scene in Episode II: Attack Of The Clones (the worst Star Wars movie made to date) is the scene when Anakin tells Padme how he feels. His dialog goes something like this: “I hate sand. Sand is rough and it gets in your clothes and your hair and it’s awful. I hate sand. You’re nothing like sand. You’re soft and pretty and not sand.” It is even more hilarious as delivered by poor Hayden Christensen than my paraphrasing could possibly do justice to.

One of my more unremarkable boyfriends (one in a series of unremarkable boyfriends, which should in no way lessen the remarkableness of the one I settled down with) was named Eric. (I thought about changing his name to protect… well, somebody. But I can’t change any other details or my point is lost, so it isn’t worth bothering.) Eric loved Star Wars, which I think is why I was into him in the first place. My interest in Eric wore off pretty quickly — after the re-release of Return Of The Jedi there was really nothing for us to do but make out while his creepy cat watched. He also played in a band, and I went to one of their shows. Just one, though I am pretty sure Eric and I “dated” (or whatever you want to call it) for two or three months.

His band was called Sand.

This was, of course, years before Attack of the Clones. But somehow, I feel like he knew.

Branching Out bag

I’ve been knitting non-stop, and most of it is Top Secret stuff for The Book. But because I am an overachiever (read: masochist), I have also got a few (dozen) non-book projects going on.

Finished: a bag for my Mother-in-Law to match the Branching Out scarf I gave her last spring.

Branching Out bag

I am also working on a pair of Baby Legs (leggins to wear with a diaper) for Sam so that he can run around with no pants in cooler weather, and a little present for a certain little girl we know who is turning one soon. And I am making Tubey for myself, in grey stripes with red accent.

I am making the Baby Legs with a set of the new Harmony needles from Knit Picks, on loan from Cassie. They are an inch shorter than I am accustomed to working with, but once I adjusted to that it is safe to say these are the BEST double-pointed needles I have EVER worked with. I’ll be asking for a full set for Christmas.

Speaking of Cassie, she bought the yarn for the Hanami stole for me as thanks for cat-sitting. I can’t really knit lace right now, since I get interrupted every five seconds, but I am really looking forward to making this beauty. Someday. I hope. If I am feeling extra selfless, I may give it to my Sister-in-Law, who lives outside of DC.

Monday weigh-in delayed

Monday, September 24th, 2007

You guys, I broke my scale. Not (I hope) because I am a fat pig, but because (I think) I stepped on it wrong and the spring got stuck. On the plus side, it is stuck at 145, which is less than I weighed last week, but also probably not accurate (see: broken). If Will can fix it I’ll weigh in tomorrow.

In other news, Sam just stuck his finger in my nose and then shoved it in my mouth. What do you suppose he’s trying to tell me?
